On this one day course you'll learn how to:
Although primitive reflexes can be retained in all ages, this may just be the missing piece to your toolkit when working with children!
WHAT ARE PRIMITIVE REFLEXES?
Primitive reflexes are automatic movement patterns we're all born with. They help babies survive, move, and develop in the first months of life. As the brain matures, these reflexes are meant to integrate naturally, making way for more complex and voluntary movement and behaviour.
But sometimes, that integration doesn’t fully happen. When a reflex is retained, it can interfere with posture, coordination, learning, emotional regulation, and even stress responses, often in subtle ways that are easy to miss.
For example, a retained Moro (startle) reflex can leave someone feeling constantly on edge. A retained ATNR can affect handwriting or coordination. These patterns can show up in children as developmental or learning challenges, and in adults as anxiety, clumsiness, tension, or burnout.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO INTEGRATE RETAINED REFLEXES?
If primitive reflexes are retained, children will struggle to keep up with expectations of learning and behaviour. They will end up compensating and developing techniques to 'get by', often leaving them feeling frustrated and misunderstood.
There is also a high risk of learning and behavioural issues, as well as attitude problems, meaning their whole experience of life can be much more challenging for them.
HOW CAN KINESIOLOGY HELP?
The good news is that using kinesiology and gentle movement techniques, we can help the body complete these early patterns and support full integration creating more ease, focus, and flow in everyday life.
That's why I'm so passionate about this work we can offer; our help can make a big difference to little people, as well as adults who didn't realise there was a neurological reason for the things they've been struggling with for so long.
